Local Quaker Meetings in Hertford and Hitchin Area

About Quakers in Britain and around the World

Quaker faith springs from the experience that each one of us can have a direct relationship with the Divine. Quakers find that by meeting together for communal worship we are empowered to find peace and strength for work in the world.

Quakers are members of the Religious Society of Friends and hence they often refer to each other as 'Friends'. More than twenty seven thousand people attend Quaker meetings for worship in the UK. These quiet times of seeking the presence of God are held regularly in about 500 places, many of them Friends' Meeting Houses.

Children's meeting

Children's meetings are held on the first and third Sunday of the month in the purpose built classroom in the meeting house. Children of all ages attend and the classes are run by members of the meeting who have knowledge of working with children e.g. teachers. The activities will often involve discussion, music, and artwork and there are seasonal events such as strawberry picking and the Christmas gathering. Recent sessions have covered Peace, Communal Eating, Epiphany and Traditions, and Slavery and Negro Spirituals. The children join the adult meeting at 11.15.
There is a Child Protection policy in place and the leaders are CRB checked. Please contact Mario May (01462 484518) for further details.
