The Meeting for Worship which is held at 8:00am lasts for three quarters of an hour,
and is followed by a simple breakfast.
The 10.30 Meeting lasts for an hour, and is usually followed by coffee,
which is a opportunity for people to talk with each other.
Both Meetings are times of silence,
which for some might be an opportunity for meditation,
for others, prayer, an opportunity to seek the deeper meaning of life
and contact the spiritual side of our being.
Into this silence from time to time someone may offer a reading or spoken ministry.
Children are welcome to the 10.30 meeting. After the first 15 minutes they are taken out by two adults to a room where things of interest to their age group are explored. We do not indoctrinate, but hope that we can convey something of what Quakers believe, and how that affects our attitude to the world and the way we try to live our lives. The time may be spent in hearing stories which have some significance, followed by art and simple craft work.
Other Activities
Once a month we gather after Meeting for a simple shared lunch. Proceeds to a charity of our choice.
Evening Meetings
From time to time a meeting is held on Sunday evenings with a speaker to introduce a topic of interest to us.
Study groups are occasionally held on Wednesday evenings.
Currently the theme is 'Sustainability'.
Other Interests
Individual Quakers are active in a number of local organisations: UNA (United Nations Association), Amnesty, Welwyn Hatfield Interfaith group, etc.
